Registration for the spring season will open February 26 and the season begins the week of March 29!
Our elementary school program (Girls on the Run) is open to all 3rd - 5th/6th grade girls, depending on the school district, and our junior high/middle school program (Heart & Sole) is open to 6th-8th grade girls. Participants meet twice a week after school, for 75-90 minutes each practice in person and 45 minutes if virtual.
Each team has a minimum of 8 girls and a maximum of 12 for virtual and 15 for in-person. Once a team is full, a waiting list will begin. If a spot becomes available, it will be offered to the next girl on the waiting list.
Once you register your daughter, you will receive an email confirmation. Before the season begins, we will email you a welcome packet that will include the full season calendar, program logistics, and an introduction to your daughter’s coaches.

REGISTRATION FEE AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Building confidence and setting young girls down the path of a healthy lifestyle is PRICELESS! However, there are real costs associated with operating a non-profit organization and delivering the Girls on the Run program to approximately 1000 girls in the Eastern Iowa area each year. Your registration includes
Due to the nature of this season, we've lowered the max registration fee to $140 and allowing families who need financial assistance to pay what they can. If you need financial assitance, you will be led through simple questions and options during registration with the option to update the final fee if you are unable to afford the sliding scale guidance. We also offer payment plans allowing families to pay in two or three payments.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
It is very important for your child to attend both sessions each week because the lessons build up from one to the next and because group relationships build over time. Participants are not allowed to sign up for one session a week. If you know your child can't make it to both sessions each week, please do not sign up - leave room for a child who can.
RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR POLICY
Participants are expected to behave in a way that permits the coaches to carry out the day’s scheduled activities. Participants who are continually disruptive in a way that prevents the rest of the group from experiencing the benefits of the program may be asked to leave for the rest of the season. A child who engages in behavior that threatens the health or welfare of other participants, administrators or coaches will be released from the program for the remainder of the season. Threatening behavior may include but is not limited to: physical injury, emotional mistreatment, abuse of prescription or illegal drugs, use of alcohol, carrying firearms or other dangerous items, using any item in a dangerous way, or any other activity determined by a coach or administrator to be threatening of another person’s health or well-being. Girls on the Run, its coaches, and administrators reserve the right to remove from participation any child who for any reason does not fit the mission and goals of the organization.
REFUND/WITHDRAWAL POLICY
A $10 administration fee will be charged on all cancellations before the first practice, except in cases of medical emergencies, with a doctor’s note or documentation. No refunds will be issued once the season has begun. We will not issue refunds if a program goes virtual during the season.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?
Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every girl can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice.
We can't afford the program registration fee but our daughter would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?
Don't let cost stop you from participating! We'd love to have your daughter involved and we are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all girls. Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any girl who needs it, and we can also provide running shoes and clothing to girls in need. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale.
Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?
Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.
